SamNav.ai
Public-safe archive and AI route planner
A Map for a Blog.
Sam Altman’s public blog contains more than a decade of consequential writing and almost no meaningful way to move through it. SamNav began as the missing map: an independent index with search, controlled topics, related posts, chronology, and curated reading paths.
The project deliberately stores directions rather than articles. Full text is used only inside the private indexing pipeline; the public site receives safe metadata and always returns the reader to the original source. The design principle is simple: less extraction, more orientation.
Role
- Designed the product, cartographic interface, controlled taxonomy, reading paths, and deliberately theatrical Navigation Severity system.
- Built the discovery, crawling, enrichment, validation, static publishing, scheduled update, and public-data audit pipelines.
- Extended the finished atlas during OpenAI Build Week with semantic dossiers, hybrid retrieval, a constrained route planner, and explicit insufficient-evidence behavior.
- Implemented production safeguards including moderation, Turnstile verification, distributed rate limiting, bounded inputs, privacy-conscious analytics, and fail-closed validation.
